In Sicilia, intorno all’anno 1000, durante la dominazione Araba, c’era una bellissima ragazza nel quartiere la Kalsa, a Palermo, che amava prendersi cura delle sue piante.
Un giorno, un Moro che passava di lì la notò dalla sua balconata e si innamorò perdutamente di lei.

La ragazza ricambiò il suo amore, ma ben presto scoprì che il Moro doveva tornare in Oriente, dove lo attendevano moglie e figli.

Tradita e umiliata, la ragazza uccise il Moro mentre dormiva, tagliò la sua testa e la trasformò in un vaso. Piantò un germoglio di basilico all’interno e lo curò con passione.

In Sicily, around the year 1000, during the Arab domination, there was a beautiful girl in the Kalsa neighbourhood, in Palermo, who loved taking care of her plants.
One day, a Moro who was passing by noticed her from her balcony and fell madly in love with her.

The girl reciprocated her love, but she soon discovered that the Moro had to return to the East, where his wife and children awaited him.

Betrayed and humiliated, the girl killed the Moor while he slept, cut off his head and transformed it into a vase. She planted a basil sprout inside and cared for it with passion.

La Kalsa è un gin decisamente rinfrescante, oltre al ginepro la botanica principale è il basilico che sapientemente equilibrato da limone e e pepe di Sichuan riesce a stuzzicare il palato e rinfrescare la gola di appassionati e non.

Un ottimo gin non solo per le stagioni calde, personalmente lo abbiamo testato in una fredda Primavera e lo berremo per tutto l’anno, bravo Gianluca!

KAlsa is a decidedly refreshing gin, in addition to juniper the main botanical is basil which, expertly balanced with lemon and Sichuan pepper, manages to whet the palate and refresh the throat of enthusiasts and non-aficionados alike.

An excellent gin not only for the warm seasons, we personally tested it in a cold Spring and we will drink it all year round, well done Gianluca!

Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?

Abbiamo provato questo gin con varie toniche, quella che ha bilanciato meglio il gin tonic è la San Pellegrino Rovere in quanto riesce a bilanciare la nota erbacea e forte del basilico con la nota agrumata del limone e un finale speziato del pepe di Sichuan permettendo di gustarsi al meglio questo gin tonic molto rinfrescante.

Oltre alla San Pellegrino rovere segnaliamo anche un abbinamento con la Imperdibile Superior, la quale risalta la nota erbacea del basilico e la nota agrumata del limone, tenendo molto bassa la nota speziata del pepe di Sichuan.

COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T

Ci piace la bottiglia, molto semplice con un’etichetta particolare dove viene spiegata la storia da cui deriva il nome e il visto raffigurato sull’etichetta attorniato dalle botaniche di cui è composto il gin.

Ci piace il profumo che rilascia appena aperta la bottiglia, al naso arriva subito la nota agrumata del limone, seguito dalla nota floreale del basilico con un finale pungente dato dal pepe di Sichuan.

Ci piace bevuto liscio in quanto la palato arriva subito la nota agrumata del limone seguito dalla nota erbacea del basilico che fa da bilanciare tra l’agrumato e la nota speziata del pepe di Sichuan.

We like the scent it releases as soon as the bottle is opened, the citrus note of lemon immediately arrives on the nose, followed by the floral note of basil with a pungent finish given by Sichuan pepper.
