Buongiorno Gianluca cosa Ti ha spinto a creare U’ Ficu? Quando nasce? La Kalsa è nato successivamente cosa ti ha motivato ad uscire con un secondo prodotto?

Buongiorno a te Gabriele, allora faccio il bartender da molto tempo ,da 6 anni a questa parte mi sono specializzato nei prodotti home made cordiali, shurb, ecc.

e durante la quarantena avendo tanto tempo a disposizione ho fatto una lunga ricerca sui gin che sono il mood del momento e ho notato che un gin al fico d’india ancora non c era sul mercato… mi son detto: lo faccio io e così dopo aver comprato un mini alambicco sono iniziate le prime prove.

Tornando a U’ Ficu, il mio progetto nasce dalla grafica delle etichette, usando la testa di moro maschile già avevo in mente un altro prodotto e così sfruttando la leggenda appunto delle teste di moro nasce La Kalsa.

Questo secondo gin prende nome dal quartiere arabo di Palermo dove nacque la leggenda e le botaniche riprendono la storia di lei che tradita e presa dall’ira tagliò la testa al moro e le piantò il basilico, che è la botanica principale del prodotto dopo il ginepro.

Da esperto bartender ci dai dei consigli su come gustare i Tuoi gin, quali toniche abbinare e che cibo si accompagna?

Allora U’ Ficu Gin e nato per la mixology, spettacolare bevuto in purezza ma ancora di più se lo si usa nei twist on classic a partire dal Negroni, Gimlet, London Mule e chi più ne ha più ne metta.
La Kalsa è il classico distilled gin da gin tonic, sfruttando il mood del momento ovvero bello fresco e beverino.

Perfetto accostato ad una tonica neutra .come un Acqua Brillante o ad una Indian è nato per accompagnare cibi di pesce crudo o il sushi.

Stiamo lavorando già ad un altro prodotto, non vi dico cosa di preciso è troppo presto, ma sarà un altro prodotto spettacolare e sarete tra i primi a saperlo.

Good morning Gianluca, what pushed you to create U Ficu? When was it born? La Kalsa was born later, what motivated you to come out with a second product?

Good morning to you Gabriele, so I have been a bartender for a long time, for 6 years now I have specialized in home made products, cordials, shurbs, etc.

and during the quarantine, having a lot of time available, I did a long research on the gins that are the mood of the moment and I noticed that a prickly pear gin wasn’t on the market yet… I said to myself: I’ll do it myself and so on afterwards having bought a mini still, the first tests began.

Returning to U’ Ficu, my project was born from the graphics of the labels, using the male dark brown head I already had another product in mind and so exploiting the legend of the dark brown head, La Kalsa was born.

This second gin takes its name from the Arab neighborhood of Palermo where the legend was born and the botanicals take up the story of her who, betrayed and taken by anger, cut off the head of the dark man and planted basil, which is the main botanical of the product after the juniper .

As an expert bartender, can you give us some advice on how to enjoy your gins, which tonics to pair with them and what food goes with them?

So U’ Ficu gin was born for mixology, spectacular when drunk alone but even more so if used in twists on classics starting from Negroni, Gimlet, London Mule and so on and so forth.

Kalsa is the classic distilled gin from gin tonic, taking advantage of the mood of the moment, i.e. nice, fresh and easy to drink.

Perfect paired with a neutral tonic, such as Acqua Brillante or Indian, it was created to accompany raw fish or sushi.

Do you have any previews on new gins/products?

I shouldn’t say it, even if I tell you exclusively 😜😜😜

So is this something exclusive to GinEcologY?

We are already working on another product, I won’t tell you what exactly, it’s too early, but it will be another spectacular product and you will be among the first to know.
