“Ilginus” è un London dry gin dal gusto avvolgente. Il ginepro è presente in tutte le fasi dell’assaggio ed ad esso si alternano note burrose date dalle foglie di olivo a note balsamiche derivate dalle bacche di cipresso; a metà sorso si apprezza la freschezza dell’asparagina e, infine, persistente torna il cipresso.

“Ilginus” is a London dry gin with an enveloping taste. Juniper is present in all phases of the tasting and it alternates buttery notes given by the olive leaves with balsamic notes derived from the cypress berries; halfway through the sip you can appreciate the freshness of the asparagine and, finally, the persistent cypress returns.

Un gin ben bilanciato che si porta alle spalle un nome ridondante di tradizione vinicola importante, ne esce bene discostandosi da quell’ambiente ma riuscendo a dare delle note interessanti grazie alle sue botaniche che sono poche ma buone e ben bilanciate tra di loro. Il naso non tradisce il palato e le note prima balsamiche e poi dolci e leggermente sapide creano un risultato in bocca che persiste grazie alla foglia d’olivo.

A well-balanced gin that carries behind it a redundant name of important wine tradition, it comes out well, deviating from that environment but managing to give interesting notes thanks to its botanicals which are few but good and well balanced between them. The nose does not betray the palate and the first balsamic and then sweet and slightly savory notes create a result in the mouth that persists thanks to the olive leaf.

Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?

Abbiamo provato questo gin con varie toniche, quella che è riuscita a dare una bilanciatura migliore tra le botaniche è la Fever Tree Indian, con la quale si può degustare un gin tonic ben bilanciato, assaporando le note balsamiche delle bacche di cipresso seguite dalle note leggermente dolci del finocchietto selvatico e la freschezza dell’asparagina con la nota viscosa della foglia d’olivo che al palato bilancia il tutto.

We tried this gin with various tonics, the one that managed to give a better balance between the botanicals is the Fever Tree Indian, with which you can taste a well-balanced gin and tonic, savoring the balsamic notes of the cypress berries followed by the slightly sweet wild fennel and the freshness of asparagine with the viscous note of the olive leaf which balances everything on the palate.

COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T

Ci piace la bottiglia molto classica, di forma quadrata, con sull’ etichetta ben rappresentate le botaniche di cui è composto il gin, poche ma semplici.
Ci piace il profumo che si sente appena aperta la bottiglia, dalle note balsamiche data dalle bacche del cipresso alle note erbacee date dalla foglia di ulivo e la freschezza data dall’asparagina e del finocchietto selvatico.
Ci piace bevuto liscio, al palato si sente subito la nota balsamica delle bacche di cipresso, con la viscosità dell’olivo che ricopre la lingua facendo da collante con le altre botaniche, dando la possibilità di poter assaporare anche le note fresche dell’asparagina e le note leggermente dolci del finocchietto selvatico e il ginepro.

Difetti davvero non ne troviamo.

We like the very classic bottle, square in shape, with the botanicals that make up the gin well represented on the label, few but simple.
We like the scent that you smell as soon as you open the bottle, from the balsamic notes given by the cypress berries to the herbaceous notes given by the olive leaf and the freshness given by the asparagine and wild fennel.
We like it drunk straight, on the palate you can immediately feel the balsamic note of the cypress berries, with the viscosity of the olive covering the tongue acting as a glue with the other botanicals, giving the possibility of being able to also savor the fresh notes of the asparagine and the slightly sweet notes of wild fennel and juniper.

We really can’t find any faults.
