L’Old Tom Gin è una versione di scuola olandese più dolce e precursore del London Dry Gin.
Il Piero Old Tom offre uno stile abboccato, raffinato e suadente che riporta ad un gin antico e omaggia la tradizione di un distillato famoso. Lo facciamo grazie a particolari botaniche e ad una miscela studiata dai nostri mastri distillatori nel cuore dell’Abruzzo.
Le botaniche sono le stesse del nostro famoso dry ma con l’aggiunta di zucchero, mentre il colore ambrato naturale è dato dal caramello.

Old Tom Gin is a sweeter Dutch school version and precursor of London Dry Gin.
Piero Old Tom offers a sweet, refined and persuasive style that harks back to an ancient gin and pays homage to the tradition of a famous distillate. We do this thanks to particular botanicals and a blend designed by our master distillers in the heart of Abruzzo.
The botanicals are the same as our famous dry but with the addition of sugar, while the natural amber color is given by the caramel.

Piero Old Tom ha un carattere suo, non è solo una variante più dolce del Piero Dry Gin la prima impressione che si ha è che si debba iniziare a bere solo e finire la bottiglia così senza aggiungere nulla; ma si sà a noi piace provare le toniche adatte per tirare fuori note che magari a secco non si avvertono, qui di seguito trovate la nostra personale selezione tra le 5 toniche testate che potessero andare bene abbiamo confermato queste due.

Piero Old Tom has its own character, it is not just a sweeter variant of Piero Dry Gin, the first impression you get is that you should just start drinking and finish the bottle like that without adding anything; but we know we like to try tonics suitable for bringing out notes that perhaps aren’t noticeable when dry, below you will find our personal selection among the 5 tonics tested that could be good, we confirmed these two.

Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?

Abbiamo provato questo gin con varie toniche, come per il dry gin le due toniche che meglio si sono abbinate sono la Fever Tree Indian e La Malafemmena Tonic water, dove la Indian risalta in prima battuta la nota speziata dello zenzero seguita dall’agrumato dell’arancio, ben bilanciato dalla nota dolciastra e quella floreale della maggiorana e del cardamomo. Mentre la Malafemmena risalta in primis la nota dolciastra seguita dall’agrumato dell’arancio con un retrogusto balsamico per finire con la nota speziata dello zenzero.

We tried this gin with various tonics, as for the dry gin the two tonics that went best together were the Fever Tree Indian and the Malafemmena Tonic water, where the Indian first highlights the spicy note of the ginger followed by the citrus of the orange, well balanced by the sweetish and floral notes of marjoram and cardamom. While the Malafemmena highlights primarily the sweetish note followed by the citrus of the orange with a balsamic aftertaste to finish with the spicy note of the ginger.

COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T

Ci piace il profumo appena aperta la bottiglia, al naso si sente subito la nota dolciastra data dal caramello e zucchero, seguito subito dalle note agrumate dell’arancio ben legata dalla nota speziata dello zenzero e della maggiorana, al palato si sente la nota speziata dello zenzero seguita dalla nota dolciastra data dallo zucchero e dal caramello usato come colorante naturale, seguito dalle note agrumate dell’arancio e una leggera nota balsamica.

Difetti davvero non ne troviamo.

We like the scent as soon as the bottle is opened, the nose immediately notices the sweetish note given by the caramel and sugar, followed immediately by the citrus notes of the orange well linked by the spicy note of the ginger and marjoram, on the palate you can feel the spicy note of the ginger followed by the sweetish note given by the sugar and caramel used as a natural coloring, followed by the citrus notes of orange and a light balsamic note.

We really can’t find any faults.
