Emilio Rocchino, un barman salernitano che produce distillati da quasi 10 anni ha creato il Macchia Gin Selvaggio, un gin basato su due tipi di ginepro aggiungendo il coccolone al classico, mirto e Pompia; unendo due terre vicine ma separate dal mare, la Sardegna e il Piemonte.

Emilio Rocchino, a barman from Salerno who has been producing spirits for almost 10 years, created the Macchia Gin Selvaggio, a gin based on two types of juniper adding the cuddly to the classic, myrtle and Pompia; uniting two lands close but separated by the sea, Sardinia and Piedmont.

Abbiamo una predilezione per i gin legati al territorio e che con poche semplici botaniche riescono a lasciare un buon ricordo ai sensi, Macchia Gin Selvaggio è un gin versatile che sa accompagnarti nelle lunghe giornate assolate di un estate al mare e nei freddi inverni in montagna e città. Uno dei gin da provare anche se siete palati più raffinati alla ricerca di decine di botaniche (e noi stessi ne abbiamo provati tanti così che ci piacciono al pari di tanti con poche botaniche).

We have a predilection for gins linked to the territory and which with a few simple botanicals manage to leave a good memory on the senses, Macchia Gin Selvaggio is a versatile gin that can accompany you on the long sunny days of a summer at the seaside and on the cold winters in the mountains and city. One of the gins to try even if you have a more refined palate looking for dozens of botanicals (and we ourselves have tried so many that we like them just as much as many with few botanicals).

Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?

Abbiamo provato questo gin con varie toniche, gli abbinamenti che più ci hanno colpito sono con la Malafemmena e la Fever Tree Refreshingly light. Con la Malafemmena viene messa in risalto la nota dolciastra del mirto e dei due tipi di ginepro seguita dalla nota erbacea dell’origano che fa da bilanciere con le note agrumate della Pompia. Mentre la Fever Tree Light mette in risalto per prima cosa le note agrumate della Pompia con l’origano che fa sempre da bilancere con il resto delle botaniche, in particolar modo con il mirto e le due qualità di ginepro, l’abbinamento con la Fever Light concede una nota molto dissetante utile in estate.

We tried this gin with various tonics, the combinations that most struck us were with Malafemmena and Fever Tree Refreshingly light. With Malafemmena the sweetish note of myrtle and the two types of juniper is highlighted followed by the herbaceous note of oregano which acts as a balance with the citrus notes of Pompia. While the Fever Tree Light highlights first of all the citrus notes of the Pompia with the oregano which always balances with the rest of the botanicals, in particular with the myrtle and the two quality of juniper, the combination with the Fever Light gives a very thirst-quenching note useful in summer.

COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T

Ci piace il profumo appena stappato di questo gin, risalta molto il sentore del mirto e dell’origano, seguito poi dalle note del ginepro e la nota agrumata data dalla Pompia.
Ci piace il buon sapore che rimane al palato dei due tipi di ginepro, seguito dalle note del mirto e dalle note agrumate e leggermente acide della Pompia con l’origano che fa da collante tra le varie botaniche.

We like the freshly uncorked scent of this gin, the scent of myrtle and oregano stands out very much, followed by the notes of juniper and the citrus note given by Pompia.
We like the good flavor that remains on the palate of the two types of juniper, followed by the notes of myrtle and the citrus and slightly acidic notes of Pompia with oregano which acts as a glue between the various botanicals.
