Gin sardo al luppolo!

Il progetto DHEA hops dry gin nasce ad Olbia, dalla passione di Alessandro Ruda per i gin e per l’homebrewing, e soprattutto dall’ambiziosa idea di unirli in un unico prodotto. Questo sogno si è concretizzato grazie all’indispensabile collaborazione con Emilio Rocchino, tecnico e spirit specialist, con esperienza decennale nel settore della distilleria.

Il progetto DHEA hops dry gin

Dhea è un distilled gin che unisce botaniche sarde di ginepro comune e coccolone, pompìa ‒ un raro agrume endemico di Siniscola e di tutta la Baronia ‒ alla particolarità dei luppoli neozelandesi.
Il segreto di Dhea è contenuto all’interno del suo nome, un acronimo brassicolo che significa Dry Hopping in Estrazione Alcolica. Una miscela unica ottenuta dalla distillazione delle bacche di ginepro, unita alla fragranza degli agrumi, che conferiscono note di freschezza, il tutto esaltato dai luppoli neozelandesi i quali, utilizzati in estrazione alcolica ‒ e non in bollitura ‒ trasferiscono al prodotto le fragranze degli oli essenziali contenuti al loro interno, caratterizzandolo con note erbacee. L’aroma elegante del luppolo, che richiama le IPA (India Pale Ale) tradizionali, culla la bevuta da liscio e si esalta in miscelazione, donando un finale piacevolmente secco.
L’etichetta, disegnata a mano da un giovane artista Olbiese, è ispirata da un incantevole scatto di Andrea Ganu, che immortala nella sua maestosità un affascinante e solitario ginepro del Supramonte di Oliena, ribattezzato “La Signora del Monte Corrasi”, a cui il vento e il tempo hanno donato tratti spiccatamente femminili. Nella nostra etichetta il vigore della “Signora”, simbolo di audacia ed eternità, è associato al luppolo che riporta nella chioma, come un’antica divinità inebriata dal respiro dell’isola di Sardegna.

Secondo GinEcologY / ACCORDING TO GINECOLOGY

Trovare gin con poche ed essenziali botaniche una sfida, perché il risultato potrebbe essere scontato, sfida che il Dhea si aggiudica riuscendo a dare giustizia si al ginepro ma differenziandosi con la base di luppolo contrastato dall’agrumato della Pompia. Da provare assolutamente anche liscio.

Finding gin with few essential botanicals is a challenge, because the result could be taken for granted, a challenge that Dhea meets by managing to give justice to the juniper but differentiating itself with the hop base contrasted by the citrus fruit of Pompia. Absolutely worth trying neat too.

Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?

Abbiamo provato questo gin con varie toniche, quella che ha bilanciato meglio le varie botaniche è la Malafemmena, al palato mette in risalto il sapore del luppolo e dell’agrumato e leggermente acido dato dal frutto Pompia, ben legate tra loro dal gusto del ginepro Coccolone, una combinazione fresca che rende piacevole bere il gin tonic.

We tried this gin with various tonics, the one that best balanced the various botanicals is the Malafemmena, on the palate it highlights the flavor of the hops and the citrus and slightly acid given by the Pompia fruit, well linked together by the taste of the Coccolone juniper , a fresh combination that makes drinking gin and tonic pleasant.

COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T

Ci piace il buon profumo di luppolo e ginepro che si sente appena aperta la bottiglia, mentre al palato si risalta subito il luppolo e il ginepro che si legano con il gusto particolare dato dal Pompia, con quel retrogusto agrumato e amarognolo che rende questo gin ottimo da bere liscio e abbinato ad un’ottima tonica per gustarselo in compagnia.

Difetti davvero non ne troviamo.

We like the good scent of hops and juniper that you can smell as soon as the bottle is opened, while the hops and juniper immediately stand out on the palate and combine with the particular taste given by Pompia, with that citrus and bitter aftertaste that makes this gin excellent to drink straight and combined with an excellent tonic to enjoy in company.

We really can’t find any faults.
