Buongiorno Giuseppe cosa Ti ha spinto a creare il Tuo Gin Madam? Quando nasce, è il tuo primo prodotto? Lo distilli te o ti affidi ad una distilleria esterna?

Ciao Gabriele dunque l mio gin nasce nel periodo covid ovvero nel 2020, ho iniziato con un alambicco piccolo poi preso dalla distillazione ne ho preso uno da 8 lt.

Tutto nasce dai racconti di mia nonna, diceva che mio nonno fu prigioniero di guerra credo in Libia e che un militare inglese gli parlò del gin (mia nonna lo pronunciava tipo gim) ma io l’ho capito solo da grande di che cosa stava parlando, durante il periododel lockdown ho iniziato i primi esperimenti trasformando un gioco in una ricetta, così dopo aver fatto un corso da distillatore mi sono rivolto ad una distilleria e ho iniziato l’avventura, creando un brand dedicato al mio territorio.

Partiamo dal nome MADAM palindromo, una dedica a mio padre che non c’è più e che emigrò in Francia, infatti quando rispondeva al telefono diceva sempre “hallo qui madam là tronche”, là tronche è un paese in provincia di Grenoble e anche se la mamma smentisce secondo me era un locale notturno ma va beh!!!

Sull’etichetta il pavone un simbolo di fortuna e fertilità, nelle case di allora tutti avevano un quadro con il pavone in legno di quelli a rilevo, ed è anche l’inno abruzzese non ufficiale nel mondo con la famosa canzone popolare “v”Vola vola Lu pavon”…..quindi sempre per il territorio oltre al ginepro e le altre botaniche spicca una nota di arancia amara selvatica che nasce solo sulla nostra costa, la costa dei trabocchi, selvatica appunto come il pavone e come la nostra costa !!!

GIN MADAM GINTERVIEW

Good morning Giuseppe, what pushed you to create your Gin Madam? When was it born, was it your first product? Do you distill it yourself or do you rely on an external distillery?

Hi Gabriele so my gin was born in the covid period or in 2020, I started with a small still then taken from the distillation I got an 8 liter still.

It all comes from my grandmother’s stories, she said that my grandfather was a prisoner of war I believe in Libya and that an English soldier spoke to him about gin (my grandmother pronounced it like gim) but I only understood when I grew up what he was talking about , during the lockdown period I started the first experiments transforming a game into a recipe, so after taking a distilling course I turned to a distillery and began the adventure, creating a brand dedicated to my territory.

Let’s start with the name MADAM palindromo, a dedication to my father who is no longer with us and who emigrated to France, in fact when he answered the phone he always said “hello here madam là tronche”, la tronche is a town in the province of Grenoble and although my mother denies it, in my opinion it was a nightclub but whatever!!!

On the label the peacock is a symbol of luck and fertility, in the homes of the time everyone had a painting with the wooden peacock of those in relief, and it is also the unofficial Abruzzo anthem in the world with the famous popular song “v”Vola fly Lu pavon”…..so always for the territory in addition to the juniper and the other botanicals, a note of wild bitter orange stands out which only grows on our coast, the coast of the trabocchi, wild precisely like the peacock and like our coast!! !
