Narra la leggenda che dopo aver bevuto un misterioso e potente elisir, un toro riuscì a sconfiggere il terribile drago che per molti anni seminò paura e distruzione nella città di Torino. Da allora il toro campeggia sul gonfalone della città, come simbolo del coraggio e della forza dei suoi abitanti.

Oggi, sul solco di quella leggenda, Taurus Gin vuole ricordare l’audacia di quel toro: il sapore pungente, con sentori di pepe e zenzero, e l’insolito colore nero lo distinguono da tutti gli altri e lo rendono un gin unico.

Seguendo un’antica ricetta tramandata negli anni e giunta fino a noi, ecco quel magico elisir bevuto dal toro prima di affrontare il drago e che gli permise di sconfiggerlo.

Legend has it that after drinking a mysterious and powerful elixir, a bull managed to defeat the terrible dragon that for many years sowed fear and destruction in the city of Turin. Since then the bull has stood out on the city’s banner, as a symbol of the courage and strength of its inhabitants.

Today, following that legend, Taurus Gin wants to remember the audacity of that bull: the pungent flavour, with hints of pepper and ginger, and the unusual black color distinguish it from all the others and make it a unique gin.

Following an ancient recipe handed down over the years and which has come down to us, here is that magical elixir drunk by the bull before facing the dragon and which allowed him to defeat it.

Taurus gin è il primo e al momento unico gin nero italiano e il secondo nel mondo dopo il neozelandese Scapegrace, però il Taurus rimane nero anche dopo averlo mixato con la tonica a differenza del secondo. Questo permette di creare cocktail anche divertenti da vedere oltre che buoni, uno su tutti il Negroni. Ci piace davvero questo gin ha un sapore che conquista oltre all’appeal del colore e della bottiglia.

Taurus gin is the first and currently only Italian black gin and the second in the world after the New Zealand Scapegrace, but Taurus remains black even after mixing it with tonic unlike the second. This allows you to create cocktails that are fun to look at as well as good, one above all the Negroni. We really like this gin, it has a captivating flavor in addition to the appeal of the color and the bottle.

Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?

Abbiamo provato questo gin con varie toniche diverse tra loro, quella che ha bilanciato meglio tutte le botaniche è la Gasco 13.5, legandole tra di loro in un susseguirsi di gusti partendo dallo speziato dato dal pepe rosa e di sichuan con zenzero, seguito dal cardamomo e angelica creando un ottimo gusto tra speziato e il secco dolciastro.

We tried this gin with various different tonics, the one that best balanced all the botanicals was Gasco 13.5, tying them together in a succession of flavors starting from the spicy given by the pink and Sichuan pepper with ginger, followed by the cardamom and angelica creating an excellent taste between spicy and dry sweetish.

COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T

Ci piace la particolarità del gin che appena aperto risalta all’olfatto le note speziate, ci piace la particolarità di rimanere di color nero nonostante l’aggiunta della tonica, da provare mettendo prima la tonica e versando poi il gin, crea un gioco di doppio colore e solo dopo averlo girato un pò il gin colora anche la tonica. Ci piace il gusto che ricopre il palato partendo dallo speziato dato dallo zenzero, dal pepe rosa e in particolar modo dal pepe di sichuan seguito poi dal retrogusto secco dato dall’angelica e leggermente dolciastra del cardamomo.

Difetti davvero non ne troviamo.

We like the particularity of the gin which, as soon as it is opened, highlights the spicy notes on the nose, we like the particularity of remaining black in color despite the addition of the tonic, to try by putting the tonic first and then pouring the gin, it creates a double game color and only after stirring it a bit does the gin also color the tonic. We like the taste that covers the palate starting from the spiciness given by the ginger, the pink pepper and especially the Sichuan pepper followed by the dry aftertaste given by the angelic and slightly sweetish cardamom.

We really can’t find any faults.
