Da Parma, Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2020-21, siamo lieti di presentarvi un gin fine, elegante, che con profondità di narrazione raccoglie l’eredità storica, artistica e culturale della nostra città e ve ne omaggia attraverso complesse evocazioni sensoriali.
Nel 2021 il fondatore di Enfleurage Gin si associa in qualità di volontario all’Orto Botanico di Parma che, attraverso la divisione universitaria ha condotto analisi genomiche volte a fare luce sul corredo genetico della specie. Qui preleva alcuni esemplari di Viola Odorata L. Duchessa di Parma e, maturando l’idea di investire il fiore a botanical d’onore all’interno di un gin parmense, ne cede la cura a Il Gelso, azienda agricola biologica certificata, nota nel territorio per la ventennale esperienza nella preservazione e coltivazione di specie antiche, la quale ne garantisce per il periodo di fioritura una raccolta sana e abbondante. Dopo un illuminante viaggio a Grasse, Capitale Mondiale del Profumo, e dopo un anno di studio condotto a metà fra archivi storici, trattatistica antica e racconti di nostalgici profumieri, è la storia stessa che gli indica a quale metodo di estrazione richiamarsi per il concepimento del gin. Si addentra così nel mondo dell’enfleurage. La leggenda tramanda infatti che fosse stata questa la tecnica utilizzata per creare il profumo ducale. Occorre un anno di sperimentazioni laboratoriali per l’ottenimento del risultato aromatico desiderato. E di nuovo è la storia a mostrare la via verso la definizione di un prodotto dal profilo narrativo sempre più nitido. Segue infatti l’incontro con un padre della Chiesa della Santissima Annunziata di Parma, che secondo la tradizione ospitò il progetto alchemico dei frati compiuto in quell’essenza di pregiata fattura. Immediata l’intuizione di Enfleurage® di raccogliere le note di questa fascinosa fragranza e trascriverle in chiave di gin, proponendole secondo il concetto di “profumo edibile”. In considerazione dell’estrema delicatezza del bouquet floreale selezionato, abbiamo scelto di abbinare all’infioraggio la tecnica della distillazione sottovuoto, che, mediante l’evaporatore rotante, garantisce la massima preservazione degli aromi ed una concentrazione superiore. L’antico e il moderno, e così l’universo del profumo e quello della distillazione, dialogano in sinergia per consegnarvi un prodotto speciale. From Parma, Italian Capital of Culture 2020-21, we are pleased to present you a fine, elegant gin, which with depth of narrative collects the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of our city and pays homage to it through complex sensorial evocations.
In 2021 the founder of Enfleurage Gin joins as a volunteer the Botanical Garden of Parma which, through the university division, has conducted genomic analyzes aimed at shedding light on the genetic makeup of the species. Here he takes some specimens of Viola Odorata L. Duchessa di Parma and, developing the idea of investing the flower as an honorary botanical in a Parma gin, he hands over their care to Il Gelso, a certified organic farm, known in the territory for twenty years of experience in the preservation and cultivation of ancient species, which guarantees a healthy and abundant harvest during the flowering period. After an enlightening trip to Grasse, the World Capital of Perfume, and after a year of study conducted halfway between historical archives, ancient treatises and stories of nostalgic perfumers, it is history itself that tells him which extraction method to refer to for the conception of the gin. He thus enters the world of enfleurage. Legend has it that this was the technique used to create the ducal perfume. It takes a year of laboratory experiments to obtain the desired aromatic result. And once again it is history that shows the way towards the definition of a product with an increasingly clear narrative profile. In fact, this is followed by a meeting with a father from the Church of the Santissima Annunziata in Parma, which according to tradition hosted the alchemical project of the friars carried out in that preciously crafted essence. Enfleurage® had an immediate intuition to collect the notes of this fascinating fragrance and transcribe them in a gin key, proposing them according to the concept of “edible perfume”. In consideration of the extreme delicacy of the selected floral bouquet, we have chosen to combine the flowering with the vacuum distillation technique, which, through the rotating evaporator, guarantees maximum preservation of the aromas and a superior concentration. The ancient and the modern, and thus the universe of perfume and that of distillation, dialogue in synergy to deliver you a special product. Secondo GinEcologY / ACCORDING TO GINECOLOGY
Abbiamo testato molto volentieri Enfleurage Gin, attualmente l’unico al mondo ad utilizzare appunto il sistema dell’enfleurage come tecnica estrattiva di una botanica, la nostra bottiglia è la n’ 471/500 del 2022 il primo lotto di produzione limitatissimo.
Questo è decisamente il tipo di prodotto che cerchiamo e desideriamo, qualcosa di davvero unico e in grado di rispettare le aspettative di genuinità delle botaniche soprattutto di quella principale in questo caso la violetta tanto cara a Maria Luigia duchessa di Parma.
We were very happy to test Enfleurage Gin, currently the only one in the world to use the enfleurage system as a botanical extraction technique, our bottle is number 471/500 from 2022, the first very limited production batch.
This is definitely the type of product we are looking for and desire, something truly unique and capable of respecting the expectations of genuineness of the botanicals, especially the main one in this case the violet so dear to Maria Luigia, Duchess of Parma.
Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?
Abbiamo provato questo gin con varie toniche, quella che bilancia meglio le botaniche è la Fentimans, rimane in risalto al primo sorso la violetta di Parma seguito poi da tutte le altre botaniche con una nota finale aspra data dalla parte agrumata. Per chi ama invece sentire molto le note floreali le toniche che le risaltano meglio sono la Fecer Tree Refreshling light e l’acqua brillante
We tried this gin with various tonics, the one that best balances the botanicals is Fentimans, the Parma violet stands out in the first sip, followed by all the other botanicals with a final sour note given by the citrus part. For those who love to feel floral notes a lot, the tonics that best highlight them are Fecer Tree Refreshing light and brilliant water
COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T
Ci piace il profumo che rilascia appena aperta la bottiglia, al naso si sentono subito le note floreali, in particolar modo la botanica regina di questo gin, ovvero la violetta di Parma seguita dal gelsomino e la lavanda, con una nota finale di arancio e limone.
Difetti davvero non ne troviamo.
We like the scent that it releases as soon as the bottle is opened, the floral notes are immediately noticeable on the nose, in particular the queen botany of this gin, namely Parma violet followed by jasmine and lavender, with a final note of orange and lemon .
We really can’t find any faults.
