Dopo il Mate i ragazzi della Gin DUEDUE arrivano sul mercato con una nuova versione che affianca la prima classica, Mate Cucumber e che come si evince dal nome aggiunge una botanica particolare il cetriolo che affianca il ginepro e la Yerba mate.
“Prolongs the state of good health, disperses superfluous humors, revives the heart and keeps you young”: this is how Armando da Villanova, doctor at the Aragonese court, described gin in 1200.
After Mate, the guys from Gin DUEDUE arrive on the market with a new version that complements the first classic, Mate Cucumber and which, as the name suggests, adds a particular botanical: cucumber alongside juniper and Yerba mate.

E così in esclusiva (o quasi) per ginecology.blog i ragazzi di Mate ci hanno inviato il loro nuovissimo prodotto Mate Cucumber ovvero una versione del già noto Mate con 4 botaniche uguali e altrettante differenti tra le quali spicca appunto il cetriolo.
La botanica spicca subito sia all’olfatto che al palato ma non domina eccessivamente le altre, riesce a giocarsi bene le su carte e in base alla tonica abbinata sa restituire il restante bouquet.

The botany immediately stands out both on the nose and on the palate but does not dominate the others excessively, it manages to play its cards well and, based on the combined tonic, it can restore the remaining bouquet.
Quale acqua tonica usare? / wich tonic water?
Abbiamo provato questa versione del Mate gin con più toniche e ognuna metteva in risalto delle botaniche diverse, la tonica che ha dato più equilibrio all’aggiunta del cetriolo come botanica è stata la Tomas Henry con aggiunta di una fetta di Pompelmo Rosa.
We tried this version of Mate gin with several tonics and each highlighted different botanicals, the tonic that gave the most balance to the addition of cucumber as a botanical was Tomas Henry with the addition of a slice of Pink Grapefruit.
COSA CI PIACE E COSA NO / WHAT WE LIKE AND WHAT WE DON’T
Di questa versione ci piace il profumo del cetriolo che si bilancia con il balsamico dell’eucalipto, al palato inizialmente risalta il cetriolo per poi lasciare poco alla volta il sapore speziato del cardamomo e della menta piperita. Abbinato alla Tomas Henry insieme al Pompelmo rosa le botaniche si bilanciano bene grazie al richiamo dell’agrumato del Pompelmo.
Difetti davvero non ne troviamo, sempre che non vi piaccia particolarmente il cetriolo, io ad esempio lo tolgo sempre dall’hamburger ma questo gin me lo fa piacere con un risultato dissetante.
We like the scent of the cucumber in this version which balances with the balsamic of the eucalyptus, the cucumber initially stands out on the palate and then gradually leaves the spicy flavor of the cardamom and peppermint. Combined with Tomas Henry together with Pink Grapefruit, the botanicals balance well thanks to the citrus appeal of Grapefruit.
We really don’t find any defects, unless you particularly like cucumber, for example I always remove it from the hamburger but this gin pleases me with a refreshing result.
